Sonny Vaccaro Believes Caitlin Clark Deserved a Nike Deal Similar to Michael Jordan
Sonny Vaccaro, credited as one of the individuals responsible for brokering the deal between and Nike, recently spoke to about Caitlin Clark's recent deal. Once Vaccaro heard it was $28 million, he was surprised that there wasn't more, stating 'she should have gotten a piece of everything, just like Michael Jordan'. What he means by this is that Clark could have received an annual amount of money, plus a cut of every Clark-branded Nike product sold. Vaccaro also mentioned that there were plenty of people to blame, including Clark's representation for not holding out until the last second and other shoe brands who didn't want to compete with Team Swoosh.
Caitlin Clark is now officially signed to the Swoosh, inking a $28 million dollar deal over 8 years. This makes it the richest contract for a women's hooper ever, and it came after a bidding war ensued for the #1 overall pick.
