The Kobe 3 Protro 'Christmas' Is Winter Wonderland Ready

This weekend the Nike Kobe 3 rereleased for the first time in its history, returning in Protro form for Kobe’s birthday in the ‘Halo’ colourway. Though one of the more overlooked silhouettes in the Mamba line, its unique basketball-net-inspired design stands out among the other models – and in recent years, Nike have expanded production on the Kobe line in response to the boom in demand for the late athlete's sneakers. The Kobe 3 will continue to get attention this holiday season, when the ‘Christmas’ palette drops.

The Nike Basketball Christmas drops of the 2010s delivered countless smash hits – and the Kobe 6 ‘Grinch’ stands as a giant among them. Though not the first Kobe to Protro, when the ‘Grinch’ hit Protro form it set off a surge in demand that ushered in more opportunities for 'heads to get their hands on Bryant's signature sneaks.

News of the Kobe 3 ‘Christmas’ broke earlier this year, but now that official images are available we get our first look at it. Initial reports had hinted at this colour scheme, but the execution has far surpassed any mockups. It swaps traditional red and green palettes for any icy winter landscape, with the upper cage presenting in a translucent rubber that features a light-blue to white gradient. Iridescent Kobe and Swoosh logos glimmer from the tongue to the heel, fully encapsulating the magic of winter wonderlands. Check out the images below.
