LeBron James Laces the Nike LeBron 22 During Win Against Serbia
We’re only three days into the Paris Olympics and we’ve already seen copious amounts of footwear heat lighting up The City of Love and Lights. It’s no surprise the hardwood is providing a platform for some of the freshest new design and tech in performance, with the star-studded Team USA once again front and centre in this department.
LeBron James kicked things off with a bang, lacing up the brand new Nike LeBron 22 against Serbia on Sunday, where Team USA secured the victory 110-84. Wearing a patriotic combo of red, white and blue, the LeBron 22 looks to feature a similar low-cut silhouette as its predecessors, a shape that has proved successful for LeBron in recent years. Designed by Jason Petrie, the visuals elements on this signature sneaker are no doubt eye-catching, with the Swoosh logo implemented by way of a cut-out overlay. A smaller Swoosh is stamped on the midfoot, while over on the medial side, LeBron’s crown emblem reminds everyone who’s king – a motif also extended to the tongues. Currently, Nike have not shared any of the engineering present in the LeBron 22, but we may see some aspects of its predecessors like Zoom Turbo and Cushlon 2.0 foam.
Previously teased by LeBron James during shootaround (where he posted the caption, ‘Wear test! XX2 of the way!’), the LeBron 22 will likely make another appearance on Wednesday, when Team USA takes on South Sudan.
As always, make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
