UPDATE: To Air Max fans, these 97s are precious as the metal they're coloured with and have been hotly anticipated since their early March announcement. Now, those fans will be in 97th heaven because an official release dates has just been announced. Those looking to pick up will be able to do so on May 18 from Nike online.

UPDATE: If you're hanging out for a taste of some 24 karat Air Max, you'll have your chance soon. The Nike Air Max 97 'Metallic Gold' retro is on the way –  there isn't a solid release date just yet, but the emergence of official photos would suggest that it's not far off. Stay tuned.

Normally gold comes before silver, but the Air Max 97 has never been one to follow convention. Following the rerelease of the legendary 'Silver Bullet' at the end of 2016, we are now being treated to a return of the wavy retro runner in classic 'Metallic Gold'. Swapping one precious metal for another, gold coats the upper from the leather panelling to the mesh to the 3M stripes. Like the 'Silver Bullet' bright red Swoosh branding adorns the tongue and side, while a crisp white midsole and contrasting black outsole seal the deal.

An official release date for the Nike Air Max 97 'Metallic Gold' is yet to be announced, but look for these to release at some stage in 2017.
