UPDATE: Like a re-energised relic from the cross-training period, The Nike Air Trainer Max '91 is back in our lives. The beefed-up brawler looks every bit as fierce as it did way back when it first appeared in a (largely) pre-internet age. We've just got some sweet on foot shots from Foot District, if you're feeling the vibe – step out and strap up.

Rugged is probably used a little too generously when describing sneaker silhouettes. A number of models that are far from rough and ready get anointed with the term, but the Air Trainer Max is truly deserving of the moniker. The heavily strapped sneaker is a burly bruiser, with an uncompromising upper forged from a multitude of triangulated leather and mesh overlays. The no-nonsense Nike, Bo Jackson’s pro model, features a micro-perforated toe panel and breathable mesh sides to ensure air flow. Finished with a unique diagonal strap, the Trainer stays locked and loaded.

The Nike Air Trainer Max ’91 Leather is available from select retailers including Oneness.
