Feel 'The Sting': Nike's Alphafly 3 Strikes Back
Nike are rolling out a new colourway of the Alphafly 3. Fast by design and loud by choice, this in-house update – dubbed 'The Sting' – brings a jolt of energy to the super runner that’s been pacing podiums all year.
For the uninitiated, the Sting was among the first silhouettes made with performance in mind. It marked a crucial step in the Swoosh’s evolution, bridging early running innovation and making way for later models like the Nike Cortez, released in 1972 as Nike’s breakthrough mass-market running shoe, and the Tailwind, introduced in 1978 as Nike’s first shoe to feature Air cushioning.
Borrowing its green-and-orange scheme from the nylon-built runner that helped define the 70s performance era, the design brings together Vaporfly performance with aesthetic notes from the Pre-Montreal, most notably in its sculpted profile and retro-styled midsole. Unfortunately, the model's distinctive D-ring eyelets don’t reappear here, but the old-meets-new energy still holds strong in a build that feels both familiar and forward-looking.
There's no official date set for the Nike AlphaFly 3 'The Sting' just yet, but keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for more info as it comes in!
