Long before Forest Gump laced up in a pair to hurtle down Alabama’s dirt roads, the Cortez was a twinkle in the eye of Oregon running coach Bill Bowerman. Responsible for coaching Phil Knight and Steve Prefontaine, Bowerman is also known for giving his university athletes the era’s most influential running shoe – the Cortez. Nearly half a century later, Nike are honouring the shoe’s Oregon origins with a pack that wears the track team's green and gold. The current year – as well as the year the Cortez was first released – show on the tongue tag, and the outsole’s zig-zag pattern is displayed proudly on the insole.

The Nike Cortez Oregon Pack will be available on June 1 from select Nike accounts.
