UPDATE: The official images of Nike's 'Be True' Cortez have arrived, showing a few subtle details we didn't spot earlier. The coloured foam padding in the tongue is a neat feature, while the insole ups the message with its 'BEEN TRUE' spell out. The special edition sneaker is set to release on June 1 at select Nike stockists.

Nike continue to show their support for the LGBT community with a fresh collection of 'Be True' kicks for 2017. Having already caught sight of a 'Be True' Flyknit Racer earlier in the month, we can now confirm a colourful rendition of the Cortez will be joining this year's collection.

Like the aforementioned Flyknit Racer, the Cortez features a predominantly black and white colour scheme, which has been splashed over a combination of nylon, leather and suede. Breaking up the monotony, a rainbow strip has been applied to the tongue, wrapping up and over the 'Be True' branding. Bright pink insoles are concealed underfoot, but wearers will have the option to add a little more pop with the inclusion of an additional six sets of 'Be True' branded lace dubraes.

No release has been formally announced for Nike's 2017 'Be True' collection, but you can expect them to go on sale in the coming months through select retailers, including atmos.
