The Memphis Grizzlies' 2025 playoff campaign opened on a brutal note, with a 131–80 blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 51-point defeat marked the fifth-largest margin in NBA postseason history. Still, Ja Morant isn’t rattled. ‘We’ll never play like this again,’ he said post-game, as Memphis sets its sights on a much-needed bounce-back in Game 2.

It wasn’t all bad news for Morant. Game 1 also served as the on-court debut of his latest signature sneaker: the Nike Ja 3 ‘Max Volume’. Scheduled to release over the coming months, the bold new colourway features a mix of ‘Hyper Pink’, ‘Mint Foam’, ‘Black’, and ‘Viotech’, a fitting palette for one of the league’s flashiest players.

In terms of tech, the Ja 3 features a lightweight textile upper highlighted by an oversized version of Ja Morant’s logo that extends down into the cupsole. This bold ‘scratch’ design also defines the shoe’s unique traction pattern. To keep things breathable, the upper includes Kurim overlays with carefully placed cut-outs. Underfoot, a full-length ZoomX foam setup – enhanced with recycled ZoomX scraps – delivers a responsive, high-energy ride.

‘I told the Nike design team I needed something that talks before I even lace it up. I wanted my third signature shoe to feel like my game and my personality,’ said Morant. ‘Don’t be scared. Push it. Make it rugged, make it different.’

The Nike Ja 3 will reportedly launch on August 15.
