Nike Restocks Kobe 8 Protro Team Bank Five-Pack

Good news, Mamba-heads! Nike are restocking a five-pack of Kobe 8 Protro Team Bank colourways set to land on October 1. Coming in ‘University Red’, ‘Wolf Grey’, ‘Lakers Home’, ‘College Navy’ and ‘Hollywood Nights’, ‘performance retros’ are a welcome sight for sneakerheads – especially considering how difficult it has been to secure Kobe’s signature sneakers in recent years. The pack had previously dropped in September, so hopefully this is a positive omen for Kobe releases to come.

In terms of the ethos behind the collection, Team Bank usually refers to colourways that are more simplified and versatile, allowing basketball players to match their sneakers with their team uniforms. Often solid or two-tone, the palettes are typically primary or secondary colours. In regards to the silhouette itself, the Kobe 8 is still a fan-favourite among sneakerheads. Debuting in 2012, the model was a collaboration between Kobe and Swoosh design veteran Eric Avar, who conceptualised the sneaker as a kind of ‘second skin’. Now belonging to Nike’s Kobe Protro line, a linguistic and technical combination of retro and performance characteristics, the series was conceived to exhume some of Kobe’s older sneakers with modern technical upgrades for performance.

The Nike Kobe 8 Protro Team Bank collection restocks on October 1. All of the models will be available in adult sizes, with a select few also appearing in kids sizing.
