Run, Forrest, Run! The Nike Pegasus Premium Gets the Gump Treatment
Nike are lacing up nostalgia and tech in equal measure with the upcoming Pegasus Premium ‘Forrest Gump’. Dropping September 2025, this women’s-exclusive banger borrows its DNA from the shoe's titular film, which features actor Tom Hanks’ most famous footwear scene.
The shoe features a crisp white circular knit mesh upper, accented by a bold ‘Fire Red’ Swoosh and a ‘Light Photo Blue’ stripe on the midsole, evoking a classic Americana aesthetic. Subtle ‘Sail’ treatments add a vintage touch, while the insoles bear ‘International Running Team’ branding – a wink to Forrest Gump's memorable cross-country scenes.
As for the tech: the Pegasus Premium isn’t just another retro-inspired trainer. Debuting in early 2025, this silhouette marked a major leap for Nike Running. It introduced a high-stack platform combining ZoomX foam, ReactX cushioning, and a full-length sculpted Air Zoom unit – a trio engineered to deliver elite energy return and everyday comfort.
One of the most memorable product placements in cinema history, the Nike Cortez made its big-screen debut in 1994's Forrest Gump during a pivotal moment of transformation. In the film, Jenny gifts Forrest a pair of white Nike Cortez sneakers with red and blue detailing. Soon after, Forrest laces them up and begins an impromptu cross-country run that would last three years, two months, 14 days, and 16 hours.
Originally debuting in early 2025, the Pegasus Premium has already clocked up serious mileage in the sneaker world. Since the January launch, pavement pounders have been hoovering 'em up – and the upcoming ‘Forrest Gump’ edition is expected to follow suit. Priced at $220, it will drop via Nike.com and select retailers in September.
