March has been unrelenting in its must-cop Air Max drops, but here's one release that's come completely unexpected. In honour of this month of Max, Nike's football division have overhauled three of their most acclaimed performance boots with visual nods to three of the most iconic Air Max models.

Winding back to 1987, the low-cut Tiempo Legend VI cops some inspiration from the Air Max grandadddy – the Air Max 1. It features a simple white and blue colour combo in tribute to one of the OG AM1 colourways. Shifting into the mid-cut realm, the Mercurial Superfly V tackles what is undoubtedly the most iconic Air Max model – the Air Max 90 'Infrared'. The Flyknit upper features a combination of greys, which is decorated with a large white Swoosh and hits of the titular fluro pigment at the heel and sole. Lastly, the Magista Obra II tackles the Air Max 97 'Silver Bullet' in all its glory, with wavy lines of reflective 3M decorating the upper.

Aesthetics aside, all three models are ready to take to the pitch with latest in performance innovations, including Dynamic Fit and Nikeskin.

This Air Max-inspired collection was available through Ultra Football, but has sadly sold out already. Keep your fingers crossed for a restock in the near future!
