Without a doubt one of the most iconic colourways in the sneaker galaxy, the ‘Safari’ composition has graced everything from the Air Safari to the Nike SB Dunk across its long history. Dating back to the mid 1980s, the famous composition originally took shape when Tinker Hatfield saw an ostrich-skin couch in a window display in NYC.
The latest model to join the ‘Safari’ bandwagon is the Nike SB PS8, a brand new performance model from Nike that formed part of their Olympics line-up. Paying homage to Nike SB godfather Sandy Bodecker, the name itself actually references Bodecker’s Instagram handle, @problemsolver8. Built with lightweight Flyknit, the silhouette utilises leather for high-wear areas – which have both been reframed in the ‘Safari’ guise. In the engine room down below, the PS8 is equipped with Flyplate in the soles and HART (High Abrasion Rubber Tech) outsoles.
Currently, the Nike SB PS8 ‘Safari’ is expected to launch over the coming months. You can expect the colourway to land at skate stores alongside the Nike website. The retail price is set at $130. For more on Nike’s skate division, make sure to check out the all-time greatest Nike SB mashups.
