Nike’s beginnings are rooted in running as Nike co-founders Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman were student-athlete and coach respectively on the University of Oregon’s Track and Field team before becoming business partners. Fast forward almost 60 years later, and the Swoosh continues to innovate in the running space and have unveiled their flagship trail racing shoe in the Nike Ultrafly Trail.

Two years of rigorous wear testing and development with Nike Trail athletes went into the Ultrafly Trail, which blends lightweight comfort and durability into one sneaker. A Vaporweave upper is used with a tried-and-true counter and collar construction, ensuring lockdown and comfort.

A Carbon Flyplate is featured between the ZoomX foam and midsole, the first time ever on a Nike Trail sneaker, which brings a smooth transition with its heel-to-toe rocker. The rocker is minimised for stability on the trail terrain as a flat bottom is used compared to a bowed bottom seen on current performance running shoes.

Nike has partnered up with Vibram for the first time on a running sneaker and uses Vibram’s Litebase lugged outsole and Megagrip rubber compound to bring traction in any terrain without sacrificing its lightweight design.

The Nike Ultrafly Trail is set to launch in Europe in limited quantities on July 27 with a wider launch beginning in August via Nike’s channels and select retailers for $250.
