The Shoe Surgeon has revealed a Frankenstein fusion of adidas' past and present for Copa Basel '16. The Miami-based event, hosted by Kicks to the Pitch and presented by adidas Football (Soccer), invited the master footwear craftsman and fellow customiser extraordinaire Jester of Red Ribbon Recon to celebrate all things Copa past and present through their own artistic interpretation.

The Shoe Surgeon's work takes the upper of a traditional black and white leather Copa Mundial boot, removes the pitch-ready studs and  introduces the extra-comfy Boost-infused sole unit from the D Rose 7. The end result is stunning to say the least, especially with the blazing orange heel counter taken from the 'Knicks' colourway of the D Rose 7. The footwear artisan hasn't revealed what he's going to do with the Primeknit uppers of the D Rose donors, but you can bet he's got something special in the pipeline.

These handmade custom creations were released exclusively at the Copa Basel launch on December 3, so don't go expecting to find them on the shelves at your local Foot Locker. Hopefully the Three Stripes will borrow some inspiration from this fusion for the future.
