The Mercurial is one of Nike’s most iconic lines, and considering Brazilian forward Vini Jr. has fronted campaign after campaign over the years, it only seems fair that he now has a signature to match his rise. After a celebratory edition for the athlete's FIFA World Player of the Year win, the Swoosh are now giving fans the chance to lace up a pair of Mercurial Vapors designed by the man himself.
Sporting a colour scheme that fuses Vini's history with his present journey, the medial side of the boots showcase a smooth gradient which shifts from red to yellow – reflecting the player's early days at Flamengo – while the lateral side mixes blues, greens and yellows drawn from his time with the national team.
Both panels feature a repeating script that says 'Fly Vini, Vini Voa' (the latter phrase meaning 'Vini Fly' in Portuguese) on the heel. A large Swoosh (similar to the Vaporfly and Alphafly) also runs across the sides, complemented by a shimmering outsole that ties the look together.
Packed with the Beaverton brand's latest innovations, these Player Edition Mercurial Vapors feature a three-quarter-length Air Zoom unit and a wave-patterned stud layout designed for quick bursts of speed. Additional details include an internal support frame, a textured Gripknit toe for precise ball handling, a reinforced heel for a secure fit and Flyknit around the ankle to enhance comfort and stability during play.
