Get Your Freak On: Nike Unleash the Giannis Freak 6
Greek hoops demigod Giannis Antetokounmpo will hope to lead his nation to the podium in Paris this year, with the 2021 NBA Champion and back-to-back MVP aiming to add some elusive Olympic hardware to the trophy cabinet. Among the pressure of it all, Giannis has made time to treat fans of the Greek Freak's signature Nike sneakers, as the Giannis Freak 6 is now warming up for a retail debut in August.
Originally teased on the hardwood against Nikola Jokić’s Serbia squad, the Freak 6 is specifically tailored to Antetokounmpo’s relentless intensity on the court. Equipped with full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam, a forefoot Air Zoom unit, an updated Freakprint outsole, and breathable monomesh, there’s plenty of innovative hardware here for sneaker techheads. A TPU midsole and internal containment structure also offers lateral stability for all four quarters.
Antetokounmpo’s personal artistic touch is featured prominently across the model’s two launch colourways. The ‘Roses’ scheme pays homage to his close relationship with his father, while the nuclear ‘Naija’ colourway alludes to the Greek Freak’s high-energy and fearless playstyle.
The Giannis Freak 6 will debut alongside a new Immortality 4 silhouette and an apparel collection that includes a Dri-FIT quarter-zip, jersey, jogger and short, as well as a classic Nike t-shirt. The collection will be available at and select retail partners on August 16.
